What is Gen.ho?
Gen.ho is the vision of what home automation should be, an AI-driven platform designed to connect and control every aspect of your living space. It’s not just about controlling devices; it’s about creating a seamless, personalized experience that feels like home... but smarter.
This is why we named our UX conceptual project Gen.ho. It’s inspired by the idea of the next generation of home living.
The Challenge
The real challenge was making complex AI-driven technology feel approachable and understandable. How do we design for both tech-savvy users and those who just want their home to work better?
We especially struggled to ensure that Gen.ho could scale able to manage homes both small and large, with devices that range from lights to smart appliances.
Our Approach
At the core of Gen.ho, we designed an interface that bridges the gap between complexity and ease. The focus was on accessibility. Users shouldn’t have to learn how to control their home, it should just feel natural.
We also emphasized personalization. Each user could have a unique experience. From adjusting lighting and temperature to creating moods and schedules.

UI- Elements that you can connect
We didn't choose color just because it was convenient. It was a strategic choice. Blue keeps your mind calm when you’re juggling five devices after a long day. Green bridges your cozy indoors with the natural world, making environmental stats feel effortless to read. Yellow grabs your attention just when it matters, so even a quick glance catches what your home needs you to notice.
Also, each icon was designed for quick recognition, minimal, consistent, and intuitive. Whether you're spotting a thermostat or a camera, the visuals do the talking.
UX- Experience that feels like home
Users shouldn’t have to think twice is our motto. So, we focused on seamless flows across tasks like adding devices, creating routines, and managing profiles. Contextual actions, progressive disclosure, and feedback-driven design make users feel in control without being overwhelmed.
We also mapped transitions to ensure every micro-interaction feels connected, fluid, and purposeful—just like smart homes should behave.
Architecture-Built Like a Digital Blueprint
We designed your command center like our own mental map—one hub, branching out room by room. Whether we're adding a new device or setting bedtime routines, everything stays organized. No deep diving or second-guessing—just quick control.
We followed a hub-and-spoke model: a central dashboard with contextual deep-dives. Inspired by apps like Home Assistant and Google Home, but with more visual personalization and less clutter.
