How much do custom illustration services cost per piece?
Custom illustration pricing runs $150 - $3,000 per piece for straightforward work, and $3,000 - $20,000+ for complex hero illustrations or full campaign sets. Inside our Startup ($2,999/month) or Scale-ups ($5,499/month) plan you get illustration capacity bundled with design hours, so the per-piece cost drops dramatically once you're at volume.
How long does a custom illustration take from brief to final?
A single on-brand illustration ships in three to seven working days: one day to brief, two days for sketches, two days for refinement, one day for final delivery. A set of 10 - 20 illustrations takes two to three weeks. With our AI-assisted workflow, urgent needs can compress to 24 - 48 hours on brand-trained models.
Do we own the illustrations outright after payment?
Yes full copyright assignment, exclusive rights, for every illustration we deliver. You can use the work in ads, merch, animations, products, or sell-through materials with no extra license. Source files (AI, SVG, PSD, Figma, or Procreate where relevant) ship with the final package. No rights-managed limbo.
Can you match an existing illustration style from our brand?
Yes. Send us five to ten reference illustrations from your current brand and we'll match line weight, color, composition, and character language in a style study. For ongoing work, we document the style in a short guide so the 50th illustration looks like the 1st no matter who on the team draws it.
How do AI-generated illustrations compare to human-made ones?
AI illustration wins on speed and volume. Human illustration wins on emotional nuance, cultural specificity, and flagship storytelling. For icon sets, product scenes, and hero-grid variations, AI with a brand-trained model is usually faster and cheaper. For hero brand illustrations or a signature campaign image, pay for a human hand.
Can I use your illustrations for ads, merchandise, and animations?
Yes, all commercial uses included. Static ads, motion ads, T-shirts, tote bags, product packaging, social, print, animated explainers all covered. We only draw the line at reselling the raw illustration as stock or NFT mints. For motion, we can also deliver the artwork pre-rigged for After Effects or Lottie animation.
How many revisions are included per illustration?
Two full rounds of revision per piece, plus unlimited micro-tweaks (colors, line thickness, small composition shifts). If we're on a retainer, revision count stops being a scarcity concern we keep iterating until it's right. A revision-obsessed ticker usually means the brief wasn't tight enough at the start.
Can you build a reusable illustration library for our product?
Yes and it's usually the highest-ROI illustration work. A shared library of 40 - 80 on-brand illustrations (empty states, onboarding, feature modules, error states, celebrations) means every new product screen ships faster and looks intentional. We deliver it as a Figma library with tokens, so it plugs straight into your design system.
Do you design icon sets and infographics as well as hero illustrations?
Yes custom icon systems (20 - 200 icons per set), infographics, data-viz illustrations, storyboards, and character systems. Icons and infographics are often where brand personality shows up loudest, because they appear everywhere: in-product, in ads, in decks, in docs. We treat them as first-class deliverables, not afterthoughts.
What file formats will I receive SVG, PNG, Figma, AI?
SVG (scalable, web-ready), PNG at 1x/2x/3x (for raster needs), the editable source (AI, PSD, Figma, or Procreate), plus a PDF master for print. For icons, we also ship a Figma library with variants and auto-layout. For animation, we can deliver Lottie JSON or After Effects-ready layered files.
