Our task was to create a visually striking illustration that juxtaposed the two teams - Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund - around the coveted Champions League trophy. The art needed to feature specific key players (like Sancho), integrate team branding, and convey a narrative of "victory and battle" while maintaining the excitement of the final showdown.

Normal match posters look like boring group photos
When big sports finals happen, most promotional posters just show a basic picture of players standing next to each other. For the 2024 Champions League Final, a standard layout completely failed to capture the massive drama and hype of the game.
- No Real Story: The initial ideas felt like random player photos instead of a fierce battle for the ultimate crown.
- Muddled Dark Colors: Putting white jerseys and bright yellow jerseys into a dark night stadium made the teams blend together awkwardly.
- Clonish Faces: The players looked generic, making it hard to instantly recognize famous superstars like Sancho.
- Blurry on Big Screens: Standard digital drawings lost their crisp edges when stretched out onto huge public electronic boards.

Glowing stadium spotlights and a "King" storyline
We turned the match into an epic "King vs. Challenger" comic narrative. By using high-contrast night lighting and sharp jersey details, we made the final showdown look instantly exciting and easy to read from far away.
- The Crown Story: We created a cool metaphor featuring a king character holding the giant trophy to show what the teams are fighting for.
- Spotlight Visual Divide: We used bright stadium floodlights to naturally separate the clean white jerseys from the bright yellow kits.
- Sharp Superstar Details: We carefully tracked player numbers, logos, and facial outlines so fans can spot their heroes instantly.
- Bus Stop Formatting: We built the art files to stay perfectly sharp on small mobile screens, tall street pillars, and wide bus shelter displays.

4 step comic illustration framework
- Brainstorming the "VS" battle look
- Planning the king throne layout
- Positioning the two teams evenly
- Setting up the focal trophy point
- Blocking out big player shapes
- Drawing the background stadium curve
- Checking character eye lines
- Fixing awkward arm positions
- Turning loose pencils into clean lines
- Applying official sponsor logos
- Blending deep night-sky gradients
- Dropping in stadium light beams
- Fitting art into wide horizontal screens
- Testing vertical street banners
- Scaling up for massive building murals
- Checking color brightness for night displays

Making visual battles work inside dark spaces
When people look at public posters at a bus stop or on a busy street, they only give it a quick one-second glance. If the background has too many messy elements or if the team colors run into each other, your brain can't process the image and skips it completely.
Our rough layout sheets proved that simple silhouettes work best. By using a step-by-step system moving from raw pencils to flat color blocks we could ensure the giant silver cup remained the absolute center of attention while the players framed it perfectly on both sides.

Character Design: Giving sports heroes an iconic comic style
We completely reimagined real-world football stars into sharp, expressive comic characters packed with raw emotion and precise kit details.
- The Main Face-Off: The master drawing shows Dortmund and Real Madrid players staring each other down aggressively right next to the giant Champions League trophy.
- The Stadium Tunnel: We built a tense pre-match scene that displays the official team crests above a low-angle shot of Dortmund players sprinting out of a glowing white tunnel into the massive arena.
- Superstar Likeness: Every jersey was hand-detailed with official tournament badges, exact player names like Reus and Sancho, and accurate sponsor logos like Emirates.

Visual Storytelling: Building the ultimate "King" narrative
We added dramatic theatrical layers to the project, turning a standard football game into a legendary story about conquering a throne.
- The Trophy King: The multi-panel breakdown in showcases a crowned player sitting on top of a throne structure holding a giant hourglass, with challengers pointing upward from below.
- Behind-The-Scenes Lines: The workflow breakdown panels show the exact transition from loose pencil outlines into final, glowing vector artwork.

High-energy launch that commanded the street view
Our clean, high-contrast comic method completely brought the excitement of the live game into the public eye.
- Showcase Featured: The final artwork setup was officially selected and featured in top digital character design showcases.
- Instant Team Clarity: Even from far away, the sharp contrast between the white and yellow jerseys made the battle lines instantly readable.
- Flawless Sponsor Flow: Highly detailed corporate badges and team logos fit naturally into the jerseys without ruining the hand-drawn artistic style.
- 100% Display Ready: The art assets successfully adapted to wide horizontal shelter ads, tall electronic banners, and giant brick walls with zero pixel blur.
