Our task was to craft a series of visceral, high-energy illustrations that capture the true essence of the game. We needed to design a compelling roster of animalistic characters and deliver a suite of assets formatted for a polished social media launch.

Drawing live soccer action on flat paper is super hard
When you try to catch the speed of a football game in a normal drawing, it usually ends up looking totally flat and boring. For the FC Phoenix project, making animal heroes look and move like real human athletes was a huge puzzle.
- Weird Body Shapes: Mixing animal features with human soccer poses can easily look stiff and unnatural instead of smooth and athletic.
- Too Much Mess: Adding cool motion powers like fire sparks and electric lines can quickly make the picture look cluttered and confusing.
- No Team Spirit: The different animal players felt like random separate characters instead of sharing one cool team motto: "From Ashes, We Rise".
- Sizing Mistakes: Simple digital drawings can lose their crisp look and massive energy when you try to print them out onto giant city walls.

Hand-drawn animal heroes mixed with fiery digital colors
We combined old-school pencil sketching with bright computer graphics to make the characters feel alive and super powerful. We gave every player a unique look and wrapped them up in an entire team universe with logos and social media pages.
- Cool Player Personalities: We designed special animal fighters with unique sports styles so they all stand out on the field.
- Paper to Computer: We started with real hand-drawn lines on paper to keep things looking natural, then polished them up on the computer.
- Action Camera Angles: We used extreme view angles and flaming red and electric blue colors to make you feel like you are standing inside the stadium.
- A Real Team Setup: We built complete stadium backdrops, team badges, and matching Instagram layouts so it looks like a real club.

Simple 4-step process to build a sports universe
- Creating different player styles
- Giving players unique animal traits
- Testing aggressive sports faces
- Making sure the whole team matches
- Drawing rough story panels
- Finding natural body bends
- Keeping a raw, artistic feeling
- Checking joint lines and soccer poses
- Turning pencil lines into clean digital vector shapes
- Splashing bright stadium lights
- Adding glowing fire trails
- Painting team jerseys
- Building mobile phone screens
- Crafting cool book pages
- Testing outdoor street poster shapes
- Exporting ultra-sharp final files
Keeping character poses loose and natural
When you look at how people enjoy sports comics and character art, your brain naturally looks for smooth action lines. If a drawing is too blocky or static, you instantly lose the feeling of an active game.
This is why the pencil drafts were so important. By mapping out the action frames by hand first, we could fix stiff joints and heavy poses on paper. This lets us figure out exactly how the characters should lean and jump before adding any heavy digital paint.

Character Design
We engineered a whole roster of beast-mode players, using simple outlines that morph into hyper-detailed digital illustrations.
- The Big Team Shot: You can see the main team lineup featuring a bull, wolf, tiger, and eagle wearing matching red and gold jerseys.
- Digital Outlines: We cleaned up our rough ideas into perfect digital sketch lines, where you can see the raw forms of Razeclaw, Redclaw, and Ironhorn.
- The Character Grid: We created custom profile cards for players like Windclash and Ironhorn alongside full-body action poses like a cheetah sprinting at full speed.

Visual Storytelling
We didn't just draw portraits; we built high-speed action scenes that make you feel the impact of a real football match.
- Split-Screen Movement: The multi-panel graphic slices the soccer field into dramatic action strips showing running tails, soccer cleats, and flying soccer balls.
- Kickoff Comic Scenes: We used a massive low-angle camera view and a comic speech bubble shouting "KICKOFF TIME!" to show a tense face-off right on the center circle.

Massive design hit that looked ready for the big screen
Our mixture of hand-drawn art and energetic sports graphics turned a fake team into an awesome real-world portfolio piece.
- Behance Top Award: The complete illustration system won a highly coveted "Featured on Best of Behance" badge for Illustration Design.
- Perfect Balance: We successfully blended human soccer moves with animal bodies without losing any smooth athletic motion.
- Social Media Ready: The design package delivered a turnkey, complete identity setup that can be posted onto social feeds immediately.
- Zero Blur Scaling: The files print beautifully on giant outdoor billboards or fit cleanly on tiny smartphone screens without losing any sharp detail.
